Promises

If promises were glass,
I imagine they'd be as beautiful as the hand blown.
A sparkle here, a swirl there
Enticing to say the least.

If promises were glass,
They'd be as thin as pixie wings.
Lattice designs that make your eyes dizzy,
Disoriented and lost, you'll trail away.

If promises were glass,
I'd be smart enough to not trust their support.
Common knowledge screams in your skull,
Echoing out your ears.

Your promises are made of glass.
I only see this as I fall through the floors,
of our little glass house.
